ELLENSBURG, Wash. — Two juvenile males are in custody for a string of rural residential burglaries in Ellensburg overnight Sunday, according to Kittitas County Sheriff Gene Dana.

The pair, ages 15 and 17, are Ellensburg residents. They are in custody in the Yakima County Juvenile Detention Center, Dana said.

Sheriff’s deputies recovered two all-terrain vehicles, tires, a shotgun and other items allegedly taken during break-ins at four homes on Umptanum Road, Overlook Road and Coyote Run Road, a department news release said.

Deputies apprehended the youths about 5 a.m. Monday after they responded to a trespassing report in the 9600 block of Umptanum Road, southwest of Ellensburg.

The suspects face a variety of possible charges, including several counts of burglary, theft of a firearm and malicious mischief.
