Yakima Herald-Republic

YAKIMA, Wash. -- A 28-year-old Prosser man faces an expected 31-month prison sentence after pleading guilty to vehicular homicide on Tuesday.

Jose Antonio Garcia was charged in Yakima County Superior Court following the February 2007 death of 24-year-old Gustavo Godinez of Prosser.

State troopers said Garcia was intoxicated when the Ford pickup he was driving rolled on Hanks Road near Grandview, ejecting all three occupants.

Godinez died a week later at Kadlec Medical Center in Richland.

Garcia faces a standard sentence of 31 to 41 months in prison when he is sentenced at a hearing scheduled for Sept. 16.

Ken Ramm, the county's chief criminal deputy prosecutor, said he has agreed to request a 31-month sentence for Garcia, who has no serious criminal history.
