BROWNSTOWN, Wash. -- The 15-year-old driver in a rollover crash near Brownstown that killed his passenger was released from Yakima Valley Memorial Hospital while prosecutors await reports to make a charging decision.

The driver, whose name has not been released, is old enough to possibly face vehicular homicide charges, but reports from investigators won't be available for more than a week, said Sgt. Ed McAvoy of the Washington State Patrol.

The Sunday morning crash on Barkes Road near Progressive Road killed 20-year-old Barrett Bettle of Harrah.

Neither occupant was wearing a seat belt; both were ejected.

The boy was treated for cuts and an arm injury.

Troopers said they suspect that intoxicants were involved.

The Nissan's Yakima owner discovered the car stolen after the crash, McAvoy said.
