YAKIMA, Wash. — A Snohomish County sheriff’s deputy reportedly shot himself in the leg this afternoon during SWAT training at the Yakima Training Center, authorities said.
The man, whose name was not released, was flown by military helicopter to Yakima Valley Memorial Hospital for treatment of the non-critical wound.
A spokeswoman for the sheriff’s office said the shot was believed to be accidental and came from the deputy’s own rifle. The five-year deputy has served on the SWAT team for about a year.
About two dozen Snohomish County deputies are at the training center through Tuesday for SWAT training.

OOPS. Hope he will be OK, other than suffering the embarrassment. The helicopter flew over my house. Guess it was more than a training flight.
Report ViolationAndy you got to nip it in the bud, nip it in the bud. I wonder if this deputy keeps his only bullet in his shirt pocket as well. I know they trained hard and accidents do happen but I just can't help thinking of Barny Fife.
