YAKIMA, Wash. — A Port Coquitlam, British Columbia, man has died after crashing his motorcycle last month on Interstate 82 outside Selah, the Washington State Patrol reported.
Richard S. Moffatt, 60, died Saturday at Harborview Medical Center in Seattle, according to a news release issued Sunday.
Moffatt crashed his 2003 Harley-Davidson on May 23 about two miles north of Yakima. He was passing a semitruck when his tent trailer began swinging back and forth, causing him to lose control, investigators said. The motorcycle entered the median and rolled.
Troopers blamed the crash on inattention.
Moffatt was wearing an unapproved helmet; he was not intoxicated, according to the news release.
