YAKIMA, Wash. -- A motorcycle crash Tuesday night near Wenas Lake sent the driver and passenger to Yakima Regional Medical and Cardiac Center, according to the Washington State Patrol.

Ethen Hughes, 20, of Selah was traveling at a high rate of speed on a 2006 Suzuki GSX-R750 when the bike left Maloy Road about four miles north of the lake, police said. Hughes and his passenger, 20-year-old Melissa Jeffery, were thrown from the bike. Neither was wearing a helmet.

Police said there was no sign of drugs or alcohol at the scene. The motorcycle was ruined.
