Former 13th District Sen. Wanda Hansen remembered

From staff and wire reports

MOSES LAKE, Wash. -- Former 13th District state Sen. Wanda Hansen of Moses Lake died Friday at a Pasco home care facility. She was 87.

Her nephew, former state Rep. Mick Hansen of Moses Lake, told The Tri-City Herald his aunt and uncle, Sen. Frank “Tub” Hansen, had encouraged his own public service.

Former state Sen. Joyce Mulliken of Moses Lake said Wanda Hansen was gracious and had a wonderful reputation as a senator’s wife and senator.

Wanda Hansen worked with her husband during his 19 years in office and was appointed to his seat after his death in 1991. She served through one session of the Legislature and decided not to seek election.

The 13th District stretches from Snoqualmie Pass east into the Columbia Basin area around Moses Lake and takes in parts of north Yakima County, including Terrace Heights.
