Scholarships
* Four graduating seniors have been selected to receive the 17th annual Yakima County Public Service Recognition Scholarships, which are supported by donations from state employees.
Jessica Martin, Selah High School, will pursue an education degree at Seattle Pacific University;
Anthony Galaviz, Toppenish High School. He plans a career in dentistry, focusing on children with special needs. He has been accepted at Concordia University in Irvine, CA.
Emma Sidwell, Toppenish High School, plans to become a teacher for special needs students. She will attend Yakima Valley Community College.
Samantha Bridger, Sunnyside High School, will study nursing at Washington State University.
* Perry Technical Foundation recently awarded $67,000 in scholarships to students at Perry Technical Institute.

* Selah graduate Sarah Lee won the $2,000 Young Women in Public Affairs Scholarship awarded by the Zonta Club of Yakima Valley. Lee, the Associated Student Body senior class president, has long been involved in her community, though helping at the local Christian homeless shelter, working as a mentor for special needs children through Children's Village, and as a teacher in her church's Korean Language Program. She will attend Washington State University and hopes to become a dentist.
