Two years ago, painter Rob Blackaby began a grass-roots effort to showcase local artists in an outdoor festival setting. (In fact, he held it on his lawn in Selah.)
Now Blackaby is moving the June Art Fest to Yakima's Chalet Place at North 56th and Summitview avenues. Artists booths will be scattered along the sidewalks and on the lawn in front of Starbucks from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday. Art Fest also coincides with the shopping center's Second Saturday Walk Around, which features live music.
This year's invitational outdoor studio sale features works by 18 artists, including Blackaby, Delma Tayer, Carol Hassen, Bob Fisher, Carolyn Nelson, Marcia Blevins, Holly Mahre, Penn O. Shelton, Jackie Prout, Rob Prout and Lucy Valderhaug.
