YAKIMA, Wash. -- Outgoing Yakima School District Superintendent Ben Soria will challenge Bill Lover this fall for Lover’s City Council seat.

Soria filed to run for the office early this afternoon.

Lover, a retired Boeing manager, is running for his second term on the council.

Soria is in his ninth and final year as Yakima schools chief, having announced last May that he would retire at the end of this school year.
