Local educator is EPIC

YAKIMA, Wash. -- Rick Doehle, a local educator, has been named chief executive of Enterprise for Progress In the Community.

EPIC board chairman Joe Farina said Doehle started part time this month and will be full time July 1.

Doehle, 45, has two decades of experience in public education, most recently as assistant superintendent of human resources for the Yakima School District.

 “I have enjoyed my time being a part of a team that has placed education as a high priority for the children in Yakima, and I am very excited about having the oppor-tunity to bring some of my experiences to EPIC,” he said in a news release.

Doehle received his undergraduate degree in biology and physical education from Whitworth College, where he also obtained a teaching certificate. He has a master of education degree from Eastern Washington University and a superintendent certificate from Washington State University.

Doehle and his wife, Linda, have four sons. The two older boys attend Whitworth University and the two younger boys are in the Naches Valley School District. 

EPIC provides services to 3,500 children and families through three major divisions: early childhood, youth services and family support. EPIC is the third-largest provider of early childhood development services in the state.

EPIC employs up to 584 people, depending upon the time of year.
