Soccer field to be dedicated at Buena housing comples

Yakima Herald-Republic

BUENA -- Catholic Charities Housing Services will celebrate the completion of a new soccer field and playground in Buena on Saturday.

The soccer field and playground are part of the Buena Nueva Apartments, a low-income housing development for families in Buena and the surrounding community. Located at 66 Highland Drive, it consists of 36 rental units, of which 10 are used for seasonal housing for migrant workers.

The new soccer field and playground were funded by a $19,000 grant from the Yakima Valley Community Foundation's Youth Advisory Council. The field will be named in honor of the late Helen Jewett, who funded an endowment for the foundation.

Catholic Charities Housing Services works with local entities to develop a variety of affordable housing, including agricultural worker rental housing, work force housing, senior and special needs housing and single-family home ownership.
