UNION GAP, Wash. -- This isn’t a big surprise to many of you, but we got official word that Forever 21 has won the lease of the Gottschalks space at the Valley Mall in Union Gap.
What was probably more surprising is that the Los Angeles retailer did not prevail in all the properties it bidded for. Forever 21 ended up snapping up 12 leases and three properties owned by Gottschalks.
Macy’s managed to win the bid for two Gottschalks stores in Central California and a third bidder, JM Wilson Promenade Properties II, won lease at a Gottschalks store in San Luis Obispo, according to court documents filed late Thursday night.
The results are still subject for final approval from U.S Bankruptcy Court.
Also for the record, it seems the cosmetics store that will likely come to the Valley Mall Plaza is Ulta. I got the official word from mall owner Fred Bruning Thursday night of the store’s identity.
Ulta has been a popular tenant for Bruning, who has the store in several of CenterCal’s other properties.
He’s staying mum on the replacement for the Linens ‘n Things space though. I hope to get more details in the coming weeks.
