* Goldendale hosts its third annual Fiddling Under the Stars festival this weekend. It runs from noon to 10 p.m. today and noon to 9 p.m. Saturday in E'kone Park.
Set to play both days are Northwest bluegrass bands Ida Viper, Coyote Ridge Bluegrass Wranglers, Chickweed, Fiddlegrass, Deadwood Revival and Urban Monroes. The music starts at 2 p.m. today and at noon Saturday. Admission is free and dry camping -- sorry, no hookups for RVs -- is available for a small fee.
Visitors are also encouraged to check out the nearby Klickitat County wineries, the Goldendale State Park Observatory -- the Goldendale Astronomy Club will provide special telescopes for sun viewing during the day -- the Golden Art Gallery, Maryhill Museum of Art and Presby Mansion Museum.
For more information on the festival, related activities and a music schedule, visit www.goldendalechamber.org, or call the Goldendale Area Chamber of Commerce at 509-773-3400.

* As of earlier this week, nearly 30 talented hopefuls had signed up for today's preliminary round of Yakima's Got Talent, a talent show and fundraiser for The Seasons, which runs from 3 p.m. to 10 p.m. at the downtown performance hall, 101 N. Naches Ave.
Preregistration is required and applications are available by calling The Seasons at 509-453-1888, or through the Web site, www.theseasonsyakima.com. There is a $10 application fee. Admission to just come and watch today is also $10.
Judges for the contest are funny woman and former morning show radio host Reesha Cosby; restaurateur and all-around artsy guy John Gasperetti; and Warehouse Theatre Company director/actor/singer/dancer Melissa Labberton.
The selected semifinalists will be showcased at 7:30 p.m. June 5 and June 6. The finalists from those performances move on to the grand finale at 7:30 p.m. June 12, when the audience will pick the winner.
Tickets to come watch the talented hopefuls at the semifinals and the grand finale cost $15 to $30. The winner takes home $500 and a limo ride to Seattle for a weekend getaway.
Sunday, May 31
* Schools of the Diocese of Yakima will host a celebration of art, music and drama from 1-5 p.m. at La Salle High School, 3000 Lightning Way in Union Gap.
There'll be food (a barbecue lunch is available from 12:30 to 3 p.m.), arts and crafts projects for kids, musical performances and art displays by students from La Salle, St. Joseph-Marquette, St. Paul Cathedral, St. Joseph-Wenatchee and St. Joseph-Kennewick.
For more information on the arts festival, call Marianne Ball at 509-225-2900 or visit www.lasalleyakima.com.
Wednesday, June 3
* Comedian Michael Winslow, the man of a million voices and sound effects, comes to The Seasons next week.
Best known for his role as Larvell Jones in the "Police Academy" movies, Winslow also lent his vocal talents to the films "Spaceballs" and "Gremlins" (he was the voice of head Gremlin Spike), and most recently appeared in a Geico commercial.
In his live shows, Winslow imitates everything from Led Zeppelin's "Immigrant Song" -- both the vocals and electric guitar -- to cell phones, kung fu movie overdubs and all the sound effects for "The Empire Strikes Back," as well as throwing in some good old-fashioned stand-up comedy.
Presented by Gap West Broadcasting and Uceny Entertainment, Winslow performs at 8 p.m. at The Seasons, 101 N. Naches Ave.
Tickets cost $14 in advance and are available through Off the Record, 509-453-8652, or The Seasons box office, 509-453-1888.
