YAKIMA, Wash. -- After weeks of speculation, Bill Lover confirmed Wednesday he plans to seek re-election to the Yakima City Council.
In a news release, the self-described "common sense conservative" said he intends to officially announce his re-election plans at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Kiwanis Park.
Lover holds one of three at-large seats on the council and was elected to his first term in 2005. This will be his first try at re-election.
Last week, postal carrier T.J. Davis announced he plans to challenge Lover for his seat on the council.
Other anticipated City Council races are former Mayor Mary Place vs. Councilman Micah Cawley, and KIT-AM talk show host Dave Ettl vs. Councilwoman Sonia Rodriguez.
Newly appointed Councilwoman Maureen Adkison has also announced plans to run to retain her seat in District 1, which covers much of the city's West Valley area.
To date, her District 1 seat remains uncontested.
