Ronald man who hit tree Friday remains in serious condition

SEATTLE -- A Ronald man remained in serious condition Sunday after his minivan hit a tree Friday night near Ronald, authorities said.

Arthur LaBelle, 52, was being treated at Harborview Medical Center in Seattle for stomach and arm injuries, acccording to a news release from the Washington State Patrol.

LaBelle was driving a Plymouth Voyager north on State Route 903 a mile and a half north of Ronald when the van left the road to the left and struck a tree, troopers said.

LaBelle was suspected of being under the influence of intoxicants and was expected to face related charges in connection with the crash, which was reported about 10:50 p.m. Friday.

Troopers said they did not know whether he was wearing a seat belt.

The van was destroyed.
