YAKIMA, Wash. -- A national chain restaurant is coming to the Hawkes & Sons building at 123 E. Yakima Ave. in Yakima.
Michael Nelson, a commercial real estate property manager from the Seattle area, purchased the downtown building for $555,555 at the end of April, said Chris G. Waddle of Creekside Commercial, who facilitated the sale.
Nelson is no stranger to downtown Yakima. In 2007, he purchased the former Petco property at 211 E. Yakima Ave. and remodeled it into Park Square, a multiuse building. He sold that building earlier this year to Wheatland Bank, a tenant of the building, for $1.9 million.
Plans for this building include converting the upstairs area into three loft-office condominiums, and remodeling the ground floor for Linda Roth, a State Farm Insurance agent and a current tenant of the building, as well as the new restaurant.
Waddle would not reveal the name of the restaurant, but expects the restaurant company to announce its arrival on its own.
