WAPATO, Wash. -- A 46-year-old Wapato man is in Harborview Medical Center in Seattle after the tractor he was operating was rear-ended by a car Tuesday night on Clark Road.
Ramon Camacho is listed in critical condition in the hospital’s intensive care unit, Harborview officials said this morning.
The Washington State Patrol said the driver of the car, identified as Joy Douglas, 52, of Wapato, is under investigation for vehicular assault.
Douglas was booked into the Yakima County jail early this morning, according to the jail’s booking log.
Douglas was not injured. A passenger in her 2004 Ford Focus, Traci Bennett, 42, of Zillah, also escaped injury.
The patrol said in an accident memorandum early this morning use of intoxicants was involved in the accident, which occurred shortly after 9:30 p.m. on Clark Road, four miles north of here.
According to the memorandum, Douglas was heading east in the 1000 block of Clark Road when her vehicle struck the rear of the tractor pulling a sprayer.
The Douglas vehicle was destroyed. The 2007 New Holland tractor sustained $500 damage, the report said.
