PROSSER -- Prosser School Board members plan to swear in Tim Rankin to fill his own vacancy tonight.

Rankin, a surgeon for Prosser Memorial Hospital, resigned on March 3 after the district learned he was not registered to vote in Benton County at the time of taking office in December 2007.

He registered, then reapplied for the post on the five-member school board.

The current board members re-appointed him March 30, choosing him over two other candidates.

The board meeting is scheduled for 7 p.m. at the Keene-Riverview Elementary School multi-purpose room.
