Traffic has resumed over Snoqualmie Pass this afternoon after it was briefly halted in both directions to allow avalanche control work.

The pass reopened at 2:45 p.m., about 15 minutes after it began.

A storm has dumped more than 17 inches of snow on the pass since Saturday, and crews have been doing avalanche control work that’s closed the pass briefly for each of the last three days.

Avalanche work along Snoqualmie Pass this afternoon has halted traffic in both directions near the summit.

Eastbound traffic has been stopped near Gold Creek about four miles east of the summit, while westbound traffic was brought to a halt near Price Creek, just nine miles west of Easton.

Avalanche work can cause road closures anywhere from 20 minutes to two hours, according to state Department of Transporation officials.
