A registered sex offender from Klickitat County is headed to federal prison to serve a 24-year sentence for a sex crime against an 11-year-old girl.
A federal judge on Tuesday entered the final judgment order against 51-year-old Steven Vorce, who was sentenced Monday.
Vorce, of Appleton in Klickitat County, pleaded guilty in U.S. District Court to one count of travel with intent to engage in illicit sexual conduct with a juvenile.
The victim was 11 when she spent a week at a relative's home near Lyle, Wash., in July 2007. Prosecutors alleged Vorce drove the girl in a van across the state line into Oregon and sexually assaulted her in the van.
Court documents state Vorce sexually abused the victim other times while she was staying at her relative's rural residence.
Because of his prior sex crime convictions in Oregon, and because of the girl's age and other circumstances, Vorce was sentenced to 24 years and five months in prison, above the sentencing guidelines.
