Ellensburg second at Westberg Invite

ELLENSBURG -- Five champions led Riverside to a hefty 256-point total and the team trophy in Saturday's 16-team Ray Westberg Invitational wrestling tournament at Ellensburg High School.

The host Bulldogs finished second with 176.5 points and nine placers. Blake Nichols earned Ellensburg a title at 285 pounds with a 32-second pin in the final.

Wapato's Kenny Garza won the 140 bracket and Kittitas' Daniel O'Shaughnessy was the 130 winner.

MID-VALLEY CLASSIC: At Mabton, Luis Aviles was named the most outstanding wrestler at the 13-team tournament and led the host Vikings to the team title.

Aviles captured the
125-pound title with a technical fall. Teammate Danny Magallon was the 119 winner and four other Vikings made the championship finals.

West Valley sweeps Ike, Davis

Thomas Kuhn and Taylor McDowell both won two individual events, and West Valley won two relays to beat Eisenhower 100-77 in a boys swimming and diving meet Saturday at Lions Pool.

West Valley also beat Davis 115-48, although Davis diver Jeremy Sculley broke the school record for six dives, totalling 252.4 points.
