Here are this week's volunteer needs in the Yakima Valley:
* UNION GOSPEL MISSION: The Union Gospel Mission is looking for food box and bread run volunteers.
Food box volunteers will be giving out food boxes to people in need. Volunteers are needed Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from noon to 3 p.m. Bread run volunteers will ride along to pre-determined businesses to collect day-old and donated bread for the mission. Volunteers are needed once a week from 8 a.m. to noon.

* HEALTH CARE HELP: Statewide Health Insurance Benefit Advisers is looking for volunteers to educate consumers about their rights and options on prescription drug access, health insurance and access to health care. Hours are flexible and can be done from home.
Volunteers should have basic computer skills and be interested in helping people and making public presentations. Training will be provided.

* HANDING OUT POSTERS: The Yakima Valley Folklife Association is a nonprofit organization that works in partnership with The Seasons Performance Hall and the Yakima Valley Museum to put on concerts during the year. The nonprofit needs volunteers to help distribute posters for its monthly concerts in 2009.

* DISHWASHER: The Harman Center of Yakima is looking for a volunteer dishwasher on Saturdays from 7 to 10 a.m. Call Jane Davis at 575-6166.
* RECYCLE STORE: ReStore, a home improvement recycling center that's part of Habitat for Humanity, needs volunteers to sort and help with intake and delivery of products brought into the store. Volunteers are needed Saturdays from 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. If interested, call Sirena Phillips at 574-1933.
* RAMP BUILDING: Volunteer Chore Services is looking for volunteers to build ramps. Volunteers will build wooden wheelchair ramps for low-income elders and low-income adults with disabilities. Ramps need to be built to code. Volunteers will work in a team with a partner to build, repair and recycle the ramps. An orientation will be provided. Hours are flexible depending on client's needs and volunteer's availability. All potential volunteers need to have an criminal background check.
