As we gather around our dinner tables this holiday season, it’s important to remember that far too many people in the Yakima Valley have little to celebrate.
We don’t always see their faces, yet we can’t deny their pain.
Unfortunately, the agencies that screen the children, adults and seniors seeking assistance are stretched to their limits.
So they’re hoping you can help during this Season of Sharing.
With information provided by local social service organizations, here are those in our community who need your compassion.
The rest is up to you ...
Financial hardships, health issues and divorce have hit this family hard this year. The mother is a full-time student at Yakima Valley Community College earning her degree in the Nursing Aid Certificate Program.
The family’s most immediate needs this year are gas for school and food for the holidays and winter months. A few household items they need are shampoo, conditioner, dish soap, paper towels, garbage bags, disinfectants, laundry soap, bleach, toilet paper, fabric softener, fruit, coloring books, crayons and a gas card.
Girl, 10, wears size 4 women’s clothing and shoes 9 1/2. She would like some CDs.
Girl, 8, wears size 14 girl’s clothing and shoes size 2 kids. She loves Bratz dolls.
If you are interested in adopting this family, please contact Bonnie or Gina at YVCC at (509) 248-5550.
Leave a detailed message stating your name, phone number and the best time we can reach you. Someone will call you back within 24 hours.
