YAKIMA -- Peace advocates will pass out “recruitment resistance” leaflets to Eisenhower High School students this afternoon at 2:30 p.m.
The Yakima Valley Peace Advocates Network (YVPAN) is asking students a question: “Are Your Ready to Enlist?”
Lawrence Breer, spokesman, says the information is not derogatory of the military but says that recruiters may not tell the whole story of the military experience, or may leave out important information that is necessary for a recruit to consider in making an enlistment decision.
“It also supports the idea of discussing a military enlistment with parents, relatives, and active-duty military personnel before making a decision,” Breer says.
YVPAN will not interfere with school activities or departure from the school grounds.
“This will be a peaceful activity with no bullhorns or music. Schools have been contacted and expect our presence,” he said.
