Salvation Army kettle drive under way

Salvation Army will have more than 26 kettles around Yakima that will collects donations through Dec. 24 for programs to help the less fortunate. Last year saw a little more than $90,000 locally in donations, and this year's goal is $93,000.

YAKIMA -- The annual Salvation Army Kettle Drive kicks off this morning at 10:30 a.m. at Wray’s Chalet Food & Drug at 56th and Summitview avenues.
Organizers are adding six additional kettles this year, bringing the total to 26. Bell ringing will continue through Dec. 24.
Last year, $90,000 was raised. This year’s goal is to top $93,000.
