YAKIMA -- A 23-year-old Granger man makes his first court appearance this afternoon on suspicion of stealing a pistol from a Yakima gun show this weekend.

The man was arrested about noon Sunday after a customer spotted the man taking the gun out of the Yakima Convention, where the show was held Saturday and Sunday.

Two federal immigration agents who were at the show learned of the theft and saw the suspect place two guns in the trunk of a car that was parked at the nearby 7-Eleven store on Yakima Avenue, according to a Yakima police report filed in Yakima County Superior Court.

Authorities later determined that a second pistol, valued at $700, had also been stolen from another dealer. The first pistol was worth $500.

The report does not state why the immigration agents were at the show, which was organized by a Montana company.
