Child care conference scheduled Wednesday

Yakima Herald-Republic

Child care is getting one step easier.

A free conference, conducted in Spanish, will be presented Wednesday for child care and education providers, parents and interested community professionals.

Called "Para El Mejor Interés De Los Niños" ("In a Child's Best Interest"), the event is from 6-8 p.m. at the Yakama Nation Cultural Center in Toppenish.

The annual fall conference is provided as a community service by the Child Abuse and Neglect Council of Yakima, a collaborative network of nonprofit agencies organized to educate about child abuse and neglect.

Making presentations will be: Jackie McPhee, children's program coordinator at Children's Village in Yakima; Frank Ramirez, Educational Service District 105 program coordinator of KidScreen, the county-wide health-screening program, and Cynthia Luis-Frias, a supervisor with Department of Social and Health Services.

Early care providers and education providers can earn credits for attending the training.

To register, contact Maria Vijarro at 576-4319, or e-mail Mvijarro@cwcmh.org.
