The Davis High School Leadership Class is celebrating America Recycles Day by conducting a Recycle-a-Thon on Saturday.

Students will be collecting recyclables from any Yakima County resident from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the Davis parking lot at Spruce Street and Seventh Avenue.

A free, reusable cloth grocery bag will be given to the first 100 cars bringing recyclable goods.

The following recycling will be accepted: clear plastic beverage containers (#1 and #2); cardboard and paper; newspaper; aluminum cans; clear glass; magazines; and steel/tin cans.

This is the third Recycle-a-Thon Davis Leadership students have sponsored; they hope to collect 10,000 recyclable items, which would break their previous record of 8,040 pounds.
