La Salle wins clash of SCAC titans

It was showdown Saturday in the SCAC, and La Salle remained at the front of the pack.

With the top four teams playing each other, something had to give, but it wasn't the Lightning's spot atop the league standings.

La Salle scored twice in a two-minute span of the second half and held on to clip Highland 2-1. That kept the Lightning perfect in league at 9-0.

Connell, meanwhile, edged Naches Valley 1-0 to stay one game back of La Salle at 8-1. Highland and Naches Valley dropped into a third-place tie at 7-2.

LA SALLE 2, HIGHLAND 1: At Marquette Stadium, Ally Hernandez scored in the
57th minute, and Karley Kester added the winner in the
59th minute for La Salle.

Highland's Alma Garcia scored in the 72nd minute, but the Scotties got no more.
