Larry Martin

Larry Martin, 60, of Cowiche died Friday.

He was born in Pyatt, Ark. He moved to the Yakima Valley in the early 1960s. He worked more than 10 years for Price Cold Storage.

Survivors include his wife, Paula Martin of Cowiche; daughter, Wendy Martin of Cowiche; sons, Ricky Martin of Cowiche and Curt Martin of Naches; siblings, Joyce, Herb and Rick, all of Oregon, and Terry of California; seven grandchildren.

Graveside service will be at 2 p.m. Friday at West Hills Memorial Park. Langevin-Mussetter Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

 

Richard Castilleja

Richard Castilleja, 61, of Yakima died Sunday at Yakima Regional Medical and Cardiac Center.

He was born and raised in Toppenish. He lived in Zillah for 18 years and moved to Yakima in 1998. He served in the Air Force and was employed as a life insurance salesman, specializing in funeral pre-arrangement policies.

Survivors include his mother, Jovita Castilleja of Granger; wife, Dianne Castilleja of Yakima; sons, Justin Castilleja of Yakima, Daniel Castilleja of Sioux Falls, S.D., Joshua Castilleja of Pasco; daughters, Kristen Barrientos and Jessica Rinker, both of Yakima; brothers, Abel Castilleja and Mike Castilleja, both of Yakima, John Castilleja of Seattle, Rom Castilleja of Benton City and Fabian Castilleja of Grandview; sisters, Julie Rodriguez, Rose Greenwood and Lucy Hoffman, all of Yakima, Alice Lara of Tacoma, Irene Gutierrez and Faye Resendez, both of Sunnyside, Mary Winterfeld of Selah, Livia Castilleja of Granger, Alana Delgado of Toppenish and Lisa Castilleja of Seattle; 13 grandchildren.

Viewing will be from 1 to 6 p.m. Thursday at Valley Hills Funeral Home, Yakima, with recitation of the rosary at 6 p.m.

Mass of Christian burial will be 10 a.m. Friday at Holy Family Catholic Church in Yakima with burial to follow at Elmwood Cemetery in Toppenish.

John Arthur Garrison

John Arthur Garrison, 61, of Sunnyside died Saturday.

He was born in Aberdeen, Wash. He was a farm manager and worked in agriculture.

Survivors include his parents, Roger and Cloe Garrison of Sunnyside; brothers, Paul Garrison of Colville, Wash., and Douglas Garrison of Sunnyside; sisters, Catherine Garrison-Smith of Redmond, Wash., Carolyn Williams of Portland and Christine Garrison of Kirkland, Wash.

Viewing will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Valley Hills Funeral Home, Sunnyside, with recitation of the rosary at 6 p.m. Mass of Christian burial will be 1 p.m. Friday at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church in Grandview. Burial will follow at the Outlook Cemetery.

Georgine Fiander

Georgine Fiander, 53, of Toppenish died Sunday in Yakima.

She was born in Lewiston, Idaho. She lived in the Toppenish area for 24 years. She worked in child care and later as a counselor at Fort Simcoe.

Survivors include her brothers, Tony Higheagle Sr. and Gordon Higheagle Sr., both of Lapwai, Idaho, and James Higheagle of Kamiah, Idaho; sisters, Georgia Barros, Sandra Higheagle and Carol Wheeler, all of Lapwai, and Elaine Ashlock of Toppenish.

Mass of Christian burial will be 10 a.m. Thursday at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Lapwai. Interment will follow at Sweetwater Cemetery.

Jose Valencia

Jose Valencia, 60, of Sunnyside died Saturday in Yakima.

He was born in Michoacán, Mexico. He was a laborer and worked in agriculture.

Survivors include his wife, Amparo Valencia of Sunnyside; sons, Jose Valencia Jr. and Elizer Valencia, both of Sunnyside; daughters, Adriana Valencia and Angelica Valencia, both of Sunnyside, and Mary Valencia and Griselda Valencia, both of Yakima.

Mass of Christian burial is today at 1 p.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Sunnyside. Burial will follow at the Lower Valley Memorial Gardens.

Alma W. Kravig

Alma W. Kravig, 78, of Yakima died Saturday.

She was born in Arlee, Saskatchewan, Canada. She was a high school teacher and taught in Alberta, Canada, and Caldwell, Idaho.

Survivors include her children, Kari Novak of Yakima, Dan Kravig of Wenatchee, Dean Kravig of Spangle, Wash., Kenton Kravig of Dallas, Texas; sisters, Juanita Osachoff of Irvine, Calif., and Alyce Storey of Calgary, Canada; five grandchildren.

Memorial service will be at 4 p.m. Nov. 29 at the All Nations Center.

Sheryl Ann Keen

Sheryl Ann Keen, 47, of Vancouver, Wash., died Sunday at her home.

She was born in LaFayette, Ark. She worked at the Yakima County Courthouse, at the Portland airport, as computer technologist in Florida and as a bank loan officer in Vancouver.

Survivors include her mother, Sarah M. Keen of Vancouver; father, Daryl S. Keen of Arkansas; brothers, Daryl Keen of Astoria, Ore., and Everett Keen and David Keen, both of Vancouver; sisters, Doris Ayon and Linda (Keen) Viveiros, both of Vancouver, and Cindy Caup of Long Island, N.Y.

Thelma M. White

Thelma M. White, 90, of Naches died Saturday in Yakima.

She was born in Cordell, Okla. She was a homemaker and also worked for Snokist and part time at the Naches 5 and Dime.

Survivors include her daughter, Rhelda M. Sleutel of Naches; son, C. Duane White of Stockton, Calif.; 13 grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren and nine great-great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at Keith and Keith Ninth Avenue Chapel. The funeral service will be 1 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home with concluding services at the Naches Cemetery.

Vivian Burton

Vivian Burton, 74, of Yakima died Saturday at Good Samaritan Care Center.

She was born in Harlowton, Mont. She moved from Montana to Yakima in 1943, and raised her family in the area.

Survivors include her sons, Robbie Burton of Monroe, Wash., and Benji Burton of Yakima; sisters, Eileen McCollum, Juanita Raines and Penny Delp, all of Yakima; two grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 3 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at Shaw and Sons Funeral Directors. The funeral service will be 1 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home with committal following at Terrace Heights Memorial Park.

Norma Elaine Root

Norma Elaine Root, 82, of Yakima died Sunday.

She was born in Dayton, Wash. She moved to the Yakima area in 1947. She worked as a licensed practical nurse until her retirement.

Survivors include her sons, Tom Root of Grandview and Richard Root of Yakima; daughter, Jaci Van Vleck of Yakima; eight grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

Graveside service will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Tahoma Cemetery.

Alice 'Ruth' Belfield Lee

Alice "Ruth" Belfield Lee, 95, of Yakima died Monday in Yakima.

She was born in Yakima.

Survivors include a son, Charles Belfield of Yakima; two daughters, Virginia Ullom of Edmonds, Wash., and Linda Wolf of Yakima; a brother, Logan Cavanaugh of Yakima; eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Marjorie Olivia Ott

Marjorie Olivia Ott, 96, died Saturday at her home in Yakima.

She was born in Eugene, Ore., and farmed with her husband on the Ott Orchard.

Survivors include a son, Loren Ott; two daughters, Janet Ott-Mortin and Sharon Davis; three grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

The funeral will be at 1:30 p.m. Friday at Shaw and Sons Funeral Directors. A reception will follow in the Greenside Room at Shaw and Sons. A private family interment will follow at Tahoma Cemetery.
