SUNNYSIDE — A woman broke both legs after losing control of her van and crashing early Saturday morning.
Maria Montiel, 47, was driving her van west on Van Belle Road north of Sunnyside. She crossed the centerline and went into a ditch, then struck a large concrete irrigation box, according to a Yakima County Sheriff's Office news release.
She was taken to Sunnyside Community Hospital and treated for two broken femurs but was not at the hospital Saturday afternoon.
She was wearing her seat belt, but investigators say intoxicants were involved.
