* The 34th annual Vintiques Northwest Nationals car show rolls into State Fair Park this weekend.

The chrome fest is open to the public beginning at 9 a.m. today and 8 a.m. Saturday at 1301 S. Fair Ave. Here, you can peek under the hood of hundreds of pre-1972 candy-colored cars and trucks and talk shop with fellow gearheads. Activities includes a swap meet, poker run, drag races, show and shine, car games, antique show and live music.

* Pine Springs Resort, the campground located just this side of Goldendale on Highway 97, is hosting a Backyard Blues Bash this weekend.

Saturday, Aug. 2

 

* The King of Motown, Smokey Robinson, is coming to the Yakama Nation Legends Casino outdoor arena at 580 Fort Road in Toppenish.

A consummate hitmaker -- best known as the voice of The Miracles and vice president of Motown Records -- the 68-year-old Robinson is responsible for some of R&B's most lasting songs, including "Shop Around," "Tears of a Clown," "Ooo Baby Baby," "You've Really Got a Hold on Me" and "I Second That Emotion."

Robinson takes the stage at 8 p.m.. Tickets cost $20 to $40 and are available through the Legends Casino gift shop, 877-726-6311, ext. 5271, or Ticketmaster, 453-7139, www.ticketmaster.com.

 

* Two Mountain Winery's Dinner and a Movie Series returns with the Bogart-Bergman classic, "Casablanca."

The informal evening begins with dinner at 7:30, followed by the movie at dusk. Remember to bring a blanket or lawn chair for lounging. The cost is $25, which includes the meal and a glass of wine. Reservations are suggested and can be made by calling 829-3900.

Two Mountain Winery is at 2151 Cheyne Road in Zillah. Another dinner and a movie event is set for Aug. 30 featuring the baseball tear-jerker "Field of Dreams."
