Workshop planned today
A workshop on strategic intercession will be held at Valley Fellowship of Yakima today.
The New Horizons Institute for Research and Intercession is sponsoring the seminar, which takes place from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at the church, 1702 W. Nob Hill Blvd.
Jun Takimoto, an expert on strategic intercession and land theology, is the keynote speaker. New Horizons is a nonprofit organization dedicated to expanding the spiritual worldview of the Western Church.

Peters to speak Sunday at Wiley Union Church
Jack Peters will be the special guest speaker at Wiley Union Church Sunday morning.
Peters, the former director of New Hope Ministries at Yakima's Union Gospel Mission, spent the last year in Seoul, South Korea, where he and his wife have been teaching English. He's also been serving as pastor at the International Baptist Church of Seoul.
Peters will speak at the 10:15 a.m. service. The church is also planning to host an evening potluck. For details, call 965-2376.

Farewell reception to be held Sunday
Wiley Heights Covenant Church is saying goodbye to longtime church members Eric and Esther Josephson with a cake and coffee reception Sunday afternoon.
Eric Josephson is a former pastor at Wiley Heights Covenant Church. He and his wife have remained active members of the congregation after his retirement. They are moving to Covenant Shores, a retirement community in Mercer Island.
The farewell reception starts at 3 p.m. and is hosted by Chawley and Becky Thomas at 9810 Ridgeway Road. For more information, call the church at 966-2383.
Day of Prayer at the Farm all day today
The 12th annual Day of Prayer at the Farm takes place all day today.
The event, sponsored by St. Pius X Catholic Church, includes Mass, reconciliation, benediction, adoration and a time for personal reflection. A special program for youth will also be provided. So will a barbecue.
The main celebrant is the Rev. Timothy O'Toole, a priest from the Diocese of Palm Beach. Music will be provided by Kristin Taylor, president and founder of THORN, Thankfully Helping Others in Real Need. Jan Alkire, author of "Healing: Stories of Faith, Hope and Love," will be the featured speaker.

Yakima Lutheran bible school begins Sunday
Rainforest Adventure Vacation Bible School starts Sunday at Yakima's Christ Lutheran Church.
Children in preschool through sixth grade are invited to attend. The program runs Sunday through Thursday nights from 5 to 8:30. It features Bible stories, music, art, science, games, worship and drama in an imaginary rainforest canopy. Dinner will also be provided every night.

Dormaiers will discuss missions in New Mexico
David and Madonna Dormaier, missionaries with Evangelical Church Missions, will be talking about their ministry to the Navajo churches of New Mexico on June 29.David Dormaier was raised in Yakima, attended Yakima Evangelical Church, and graduated from West Valley High School. His wife was raised in West Virginia and Colorado. Both have served as missionaries in Brazil. Madonna Dormaier has also served in Romania. They began their missionary service in New Mexico in 2002.
Evangelical Church Missions partners with local churches and pastors to reach into needy communities and develop local leaders for ministry among the Navajo population.
The Dormaiers' talk takes place during the 10:45 a.m. worship service at the Yakima Evangelical Church, 7901 W. Nob Hill Blvd. A potluck dinner and annual congregation meeting will follow the morning service.

Vacation Bible School begins Monday
Vacation Bible School will be held in Tieton Square Park, beginning Monday.
Quest Camp's Son World program, sponsored by Highland Community Church, runs from 9 a.m. to noon Monday through Friday in the park.
Registration begins Monday at 8:30 a.m. Children aged 3 years old through sixth grade are invited. The program is free.
Closing ceremonies will be held at 10:30 a.m. on June 29 in the park. This community worship service --sponsored by Highland Community Church, Tieton Worship Center and New Life Hispanic Ministries -- will celebrate all that the children learned in the week leading up the event.
"Our hope is that the community will come out and support our kids at this open service," says camp director Nikki Keller.

W. Valley church plans series of family events
West Valley Missionary Church is sponsoring a family fun night and one-day Vacation Bible School.
The Power Up Family Fun Night gives a sneak peek at the next day's Power Lab Super Saturday as well as the chance to register for the six-hour event.
The family night includes a snack, games, activities and music. The Saturday event features all of those, plus Bible stories and crafts.
Power Up takes place from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday. Power Lab runs next Saturday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Both events are free, are geared toward children ages 4 through fifth grade, and take place at the church, 11107 Wide Hollow Road.

The Dynamic Women of Yakima's Bethel A.M.E. Church are hosting their annual Women's Day Program next Saturday. The guest speaker is Elisha Mitchell, an evangelist from the Bethel A.M.E.
