AUTO RACING -- Points leader Longton wins at Speedway

Yakima Herald-Republic

YAKIMA -- Moxee's Mike Longton survived a late-race altercation to win Saturday's Late Model race at Yakima Speedway.

The current points leader was the second car in a trio of racers vying for the lead on lap 51 of the 60-lap main. They were about to lap Dan Obrist when leader Owen Riddle made contact with Obrist's car. Obrist spun off the course, and the crash collected Scott Walker, who was in third at the time.

Riddle made a pit stop after the wreck, allowing Longton to move up front with Duke Langley second and Ron Bemis third. In other racing, Brian Pepper won the 25-lap Super Stock race; Joseph Roberts took the Youth Hornets; and Cody Denton was first in Hornets.
