We here at On can only imagine that Saturday's Crosby, Stills and Nash concert at the Maryhill Winery Amphitheater will be nothing less than beautiful.
It's not Woodstock, but just the thought of hearing "Suite: Judy Blue Eyes" wafting through the picturesque Columbia River Gorge gives us chills.
Backdropped by peach and cherry trees, vineyards and Central Washington's rugged desert beauty, the harmonizing folkies reopen Maryhill's intimate amphitheater -- which now features a permanent stage structure -- after a two-year hiatus.
Maryhill's main stage concerts were put on hold in 2006 while improvements were made to the amphitheater. Last year, the venue remained closed because the Biggs Rapids-Sam Hill Bridge was supposed to be closed for construction by late summer. (It didn't actually close until January.)
The bridge, which links Goldendale and Biggs, Ore., is the quickest way for concertgoers coming from the Portland area to reach Maryhill Winery. It reopened last month.
CS&N play at 7 p.m. at the amphitheater, which is on Washington Scenic Route 14, just west of U.S. Highway 97 near Goldendale.
Tickets cost $49.50 and $79.50 and are available through Ticketmaster, 453-7139, www.ticketmaster.com. Box seats and rail tickets are available through Maryhill Winery, 877-627-9445.
