YAKIMA -- Jacob Sagare is returning to the Yakima Reds.
Sagare, a West Valley High graduate and current boys soccer coach for the Rams, has agreed to rejoin the team for the 2008 season.
Sagare, who has played professionally for the Portland Timbers and Seattle Sounders in the A-League, and in England, first played for the Reds from 1998 to 2001.
Sagare, 28, was one of the Reds top players during his first tenure with the team. He led the team in scoring in 1999, and was the team and league's leading scorer in 2000, helping Yakima reach the PDL's Final Four Championship Tournament that season.
At West Valley, Sagare was a three-time first-team All-Mid-Valley League player, and he led the league in scoring his junior and senior seasons, the latter effort earning him Mid-Valley player of the year honors.
Sagare went on to play four seasons at the University of Washington.
After graduating, Sagare was drafted by the Portland Timbers and played three seasons for the team. He later played for the Sounders in 2005 and 2006, helping them win the league championship in 2005.
The Reds open their season Friday night at the Spokane Spiders. Their home opener is Friday, May 9 against the Cascade Surge.
