Nellie Butcher

Nellie Butcher, 101, of Union Gap died Monday at Parkside Nursing Home.

Mrs. Butcher was born in Michigan. She was a homemaker.

Survivors include a son, Lyle Butcher of Yakima; nine grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.

At her request, there will be no services.

Valley Hills Funeral Home and Crematory, Yakima, is in charge of arrangements.

 

Edith May Grimsley

Edith May Grimsley, 92, of Yakima died Sunday.

Mrs. Grimsley was born in Arnett, Okla. She was a homemaker.

Survivors include a daughter, Sharon Sterbenz; two sons, Leon Grimsley and Bob Grimsley; 10 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren, and eight great-great-grandchildren.

Viewing will be from noon to 8 p.m. today at Valley Hills Funeral Home, Yakima. Graveside service will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in Grandview Cemetery.

 

Diana L. Weise

Diana L. Weise, 59, of Yakima died Saturday at Yakima Valley Memorial Hospital.

She was born in Yakima and worked as a packer and sorter for Yakima Fruit Cold Storage. She also did janitorial work for the fruit company.

Survivors include two brothers, William D. Weise of Oregon City, Ore., and John Weise; and her stepmother, Evelyn Weise of Yakima.

A memorial service will be at 1 p.m. Friday at the Fairview Seventh-day Adventist Church, 1010 Fair Ave., Yakima.

Keith and Keith Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

 

Helen Rena Wulff

Helen Rena Wulff, 89, of Superior, Mont., died Sunday.

Mrs. Wulff was born and raised in Spokane. In 1948 she and her husband moved to Yakima, where she lived for 58 years. She moved to Superior in 2006. She worked at Yakima Valley Memorial Hospital for 27 years before retiring in 1984.

Survivors include two sisters, Della Canter of Spokane and Iva Lee Bricker of Palouse, Wash.; a son, Leslie Wulff of Benton City; two daughters, Nikki Hughes of Superior and Tamara Gregory of Yakima; 13 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

Visitation will be from 3 to 7 p.m. Friday at Shaw and Sons Funeral Directors. The funeral will be at 10 a.m., Saturday, also at Shaw and Sons Funeral Directors, 201 N. Second St., Yakima. Concluding burial will be in Terrace Heights Memorial Park.

 

Loretta D. Minion

Loretta D. Minion, 89, died March 5 at Oak Dale Manor in Sand Springs, Okla.

Mrs. Minion was born in Mountain Lake, Minn. She was a homemaker. In 1986 she moved from Yakima to Tulsa, Okla., to be close to her daughter.

Survivors include a daughter, Betty Dailey of Tulsa; a brother, Marvin Paskey of Fairmont, Minn.; a sister, Lola Klassen of Mountain Lake, Minn.; three grandsons, two great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren.

There will be no viewing. Graveside service will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in West Hills Memorial Park. Those planning to attend should meet at the grave.

Langevin-Mussetter Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

 

John F. Sapanos 'Sr'

John F. Sapanos "Sr", 87, of Auburn, Wash., died Sunday.

Mr. Sapanos was born in Uledi, Pa. He moved to many different duty stations with the military, finally settling in the Auburn area. He made his career as a commissioned warrant officer in the Army and in 1968, after more than 28 years of service, he was honorably discharged. He had spent some time living in Yakima.

Survivors include his wife, Marjorie Sapanos of Auburn; two sons, John Sapanos "Jr" of Heidelberg, Germany, and Robert Sapanos of Tieton; two daughters, Patricia Williams of Reno, Nev., and Tudy Sapanos of Enumclaw, Wash.; a sister, Margaret Albertazzie of Morgantown, W. Va.; eight grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

Memorial service will be announced at a later date. Inurnment will in Tahoma National Cemetery, Kent, Wash.

Langevin-Mussetter Funeral Home is in charge of the cremation arrangements.

 

Christine Barney

Christine Barney, 74, of Wapato died Monday.

Mrs. Barney was born in Rock Creek, Wash. She worked as an upholsterer for Mt. Adams Furniture for years.

Survivors include a daughter, Marlene Contreras of Toppenish; three brothers, Casey, Earl and Arnold Barney; four sisters, Josephine, Edna, Delores and Shirley Barney; and four grandchildren.

Dressing service will be 1 p.m. today at Colonial Funeral Home. Overnight services will be this evening at the Satus Longhouse. The procession will leave the longhouse at 9 a.m. Thursday for burial in Toweetmy Cemetery.

 

Larrisia Ronia Sam 'Wanaxni'

Larrisia Ronia Sam "Wanaxni," 39, of Harrah died Tuesday.

She was born in Toppenish and worked as a dental assistant at Indian Health Services for eight years.

Survivors include two sons, Lawerence Baumeister and Lester Mark II of Harrah; three sisters, Marie Scott of White Swan and Noreen George and Lottie Sam of Wapato; five brothers, Gabriel Tom of Lynnwood, Wash., Leonard Sam of Harrah, Mike Peterson of Toppenish, Haver Jim of Wapato and Wally Barns of Wenatchee; and 12 grandchildren.

Dressing services will be at 3 p.m. today at Merritt Funeral Home. She will then be transported to the Toppenish Longhouse for overnight services. Friday morning, she will be transported to the Columcus Cemetery for burial.

 

Bruce Allen Brown

Bruce Allen Brown, 52, of Sunnyside died Monday.

Mr. Brown was born in Yakima. During his childhood he resided in England, Florida, Germany and Idaho before moving to the Yakima Valley in 1971. He served in the Air Force and worked for Kenyon Cold Storage in Grandview for many years.

Survivors include his wife, Cathy Brown of Sunnyside; a son, Christopher Davis of the Tri-Cities; two daughters, Melissa Swearengin of St. Helens, Ore., and Kimberly Noyola of Selah; a stepson, Kevin Hurst of Grandview; two sisters, Lugene Borba of Coulterville, Calif., and Terry Greenfeather of Warsaw, Mo.; two brothers, Harry Adams of Elizabeth Pa., and Michael Adams of Grandview; and seven grandchildren.

Viewing will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Smith Funeral Home, Sunnyside. The funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Friday, also at Smith Funeral Home, Sunnyside.
