Spittoon Boat Races at The Brick

ROSLYN -- Boats of all shapes and sizes in the wood division were on display before race time Saturday at the Brick Tavern in Roslyn. Racers enter boats in paper, wood, soap, experimental and motor racing divisions and send their contraptions down the running water spittoon. Depending on the race class, boats must weigh less than one and a half ounces and be no more than three-inches long. Depending on the division entered, contestants stood to win nearly $200.
