Wilkinson Development, a subsidiary of Wilkinson Corp., recently filled several new positions:
* Justin Younker has been hired as director of strategic planning and financial analysis. Younker has worked for Wilkinson 1031, another subsidiary, since 2005. There he served as marketing director and financial analysis director for acquisitions.
* Vickie Jones has been hired as senior accountant. She began work for Wilkinson Corp. in 2005 as an audit facilitator, and most recently served as senior accountant for Wilkinson Corp. She has worked for several companies in the Yakima Valley, including Tree Top, Smith's Aerospace (now GE Aviation), and C.M. Holtzinger Fruit Co.
* Wayne Purdom is the new vice president of real estate. Purdom joined Wilkinson 1031 in 2004 as investor relations vice president and later served as vice president of business development. He previously worked at Quest International as vice president of marketing.
* Julie Finley has been hired as vice president of business development. She joined Wilkinson Corp. in 2005 as marketing and research coordinator. Most recently, she served as project manager for Wilkinson 1031. She also has served as vice president of marketing for Destinations and assisted with the merger and sale of the company to J.C. Penney Insurance.
Nonprofit
The Yakima Valley Community Foundation has announced the election of four new board members for three-year terms. They are: George Allan, owner of Allan Brothers Fruit; Dr. Nathanial (Tanny) Davenport, physician with Central Washington Family Medicine; Cyndi Mullenhoff, owner of Avail Home Nursing; and Paul Ward, manager of the Yakama Nation Fisheries Program.
The Yakima Sunfair Festival Association has named new officers for 2008. They are: Gene Dawson, president; Joe Mann, vice president; and Bob Brown, secretary/treasurer.
Law
Yakima attorney Terry Abeyta has been named to The Best Lawyers in America list. Abeyta, of Abeyta Nelson Injury Law, is the only plaintiff's personal injury lawyer from Eastern Washington to be named to the list, which includes fewer than 1 percent of all attorneys.
Medical
The Healthcare Chaplains Ministry Association has given certification to Philip Lavik. Lavik, a chaplain with Living Care Retirement Community, earned the certification after completing clinical pastoral training and a one-year internship.
Dr. Michael Hays, medical director of Terrace Heights Family Pet Clinic, presented seminars on treating dental emergencies and tips on regional anesthesia to veterinarians in Pasco and Yakima last month. Hays has practiced in Yakima since 1981.
Real Estate
The National Association of Realtors has awarded Lars Hanson with its E-Pro certification. The designation provided Hanson, a real estate agent with John L. Scott Real Estate, with more training to handle a variety of technological tools to assist customers in purchasing or selling a home.
The Yakima Association of Realtors has given Linda Sliger its W. Fred Witham Memorial Award for 2007. Sliger, a real estate agent and relocation director for Century 21 Central Realty, received the award for her contributions to government affairs and community development.
