Throughout Evan’s 22 months in rehab away from home, and the more than a year he spent at Yakima’s Garden Village, Denise Mettie has been an advocate and caregiver for her son. From testifying for congress to get Evan, and other soldiers, access to private rehabilitation treatment, to making sure his feet are comfortable and he gets a shave, Denise doesn’t stop working towards her son’s health and happiness.
