YAKIMA - Hilda Susanna (Lapp) Seibel, 94, of Yakima, passed away peacefully in her sleep Saturday evening, October 16, 2010. She had been residing at the Willow Springs nursing home in Yakima the past several weeks.

Hilda was born June 3, 1916 in Golden Valley, North Dakota to Martin and Sophia (Mittelsteadt) Lapp. The Lapp family moved to Idaho where she met Conrad Seibel and were married in 1933. In December 1936 they moved to the Yakima Valley where they raised their family on orchards and farms at several locations throughout the Upper and Lower valley. During harvest time, Hilda could often be found working along side her husband and children in the fields and orchards. Both Hilda's and Conrad's parents (along with numerous siblings and their families) also lived in the Yakima Valley for many years.

Hilda was a faithful member of the Redeemer Lutheran Church of Yakima. She especially cherished attending and worshiping at Sunday services. Hilda also greatly enjoyed the fellowship she shared with her many good friends at Redeemer Lutheran.

In addition to her family and church, Hilda especially enjoyed raising flowers and cooking. Her family has many fond memories of the special German heritage meals she so expertly prepared.

Hilda is survived by her five children, Joyce (Seibel) Suelzle of Portland, OR; Raymond Seibel of Yakima; Mel (Carla) Seibel of Juneau, AK; Paul (Judy) Seibel of Anchorage, AK and Conrad Seibel of Eagle, ID; ten grandchildren, ten great grandchildren; sisters, Esther (Lapp) Adolph and Martha (Lapp) Ruff, and numerous nephews and nieces. She loved and enjoyed visiting with her extended family.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Conrad in 1976; parents, Martin and Sophia; brothers, Ted Lapp and Manuel Lapp and sister, Hertha (Lapp) Seibel.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Hilda's name to the Hilda Seibel Memorial Fund at Redeemer Evangelical Lutheran Church, 10203 Tieton Dr., Yakima, WA 98903.

Visitation will be 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Wednesday, October 20, 2010 at Langevin-Mussetter Funeral Home, Yakima.

A brief Graveside service will be at 1:00 p.m., Thursday, October 21st at Terrace Heights Memorial Park, followed by a Memorial service at 2:00 p.m., at Redeemer Evangelical Lutheran Church, 10203 Tieton Dr., Yakima.
