YAKIMA - Emma Phoebe Jordan, 97, of Yakima passed away on August 9, 2009 at Heritage Grove Care Center in Yakima. Emma was born June 5, 1912 in Okanogan County to Clarence and Nelie (Hooker) Bullis.

She attended the Granger Academy and later the St. Elizabeth's Nursing School. In 1929 she married Melvin Jordan in Yakima. She was a chartered nurse at Yakima Valley Memorial Hospital and she later worked in home health care.

Emma was a very sweet lady but was very strong willed. She worked very hard and was always busy making sure everything was taken care of. She was a member of the Fairview Seventh-Day Adventist Church.

She enjoyed gardening and making dry flower arrangements. A favorite hobby of hers was sewing, knitting, and embroidery. She even handmade her granddaughter's wedding dress.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Melvin; a granddaughter, Christine Vernatter; and her two brothers.

She is survived by her daughter, Patricia Ogden of Yakima; grandchildren, Patty (Rod) Huff of Selah, Bob Wilson of Puyallup; great grandchildren, Crystal Huff, Sarah Wilson, Starla Wilson, and Tonya Commet; and four great great-grandchildren, Noah, Lilianna, Willow, Soul, and Deon.

A memorial service will be held on August 29, 2009 at 4 PM at the Fairview Seventh-Day Adventist Church 1010 South Fair Avenue in Yakima.
