TOPPENISH - Wayne C. James (65) of Toppenish died on Thursday July 2, 2009 in Toppenish. He was born at McKinley on September 30, 1943 to Mathew and Theresa (Green) James. He worked for 15 years at Wapato Irrigation as a Hydrologist until being forced into retirement due to his health. He enjoyed going to the mountains, hunting and fishing and spending time with his grandchildren. Wayne really enjoyed playing pool in many tournaments and jack pots. He was a very accomplished pool player. He was a member of the Yakama Nation. He is survived by his wife, Sonja James of Granger; two daughters, Alice James of Granger and Louella James of Toppenish; one son, Mathew George of White Swan; seven grandchildren and one great-grandson; one brother, Daniel James of Wapato. Mr. James was preceded in death by his parents, five sisters, five brothers and one nephew. Dressing services will be held on Friday July 3, 2009 at 11 AM at Colonial Funeral Home. Overnight services will be at the Toppenish Creek Longhouse in White Swan. Funeral services will be at sunrise on Saturday July 4, 2009 with interment to follow at Hadley Cemetery.
