Johnny Mack Hamilton

YAKIMA - Johnny Mack Hamilton, 58, of Yakima, passed away Saturday, June 27, 2009 at Yakima Valley Memorial Hospital after a long illness.
Johnny was born November 22, 1950 in Yakima, WA to John M. and Juanita (Marbury) Hamilton. He was raised and educated in Toppenish, graduating from Toppenish High School in 1969. Johnny married Karen Joy Olson on July 1, 1972 in Toppenish.
He worked on the family farm until 1977 when it was sold. Johnny then began working for Central Pre-Mix Co for a short time before moving to Yakima and worked for Amoco/Tenneco Co. for 17 years. He was forced to retire in 1997 due to illness.
Johnny Mack was a family man. He especially enjoyed all the years of watching his daughter, Becky, play in all her sports activities throughout her school years. During this time, he coached a variety of sports at St. Paul Cathedral School. He was a referee for many years for AAU and High School Basketball. His greatest joy was his grandson, Moses. He was actively involved in his care in his early years and was a devoted Papa to him. Four months ago he welcomed his second grandson, Micah and looked forward to helping to care for him too. Johnny was an avid NASCAR and Oakland Raiders fan. He also enjoyed playing cards and games with his family. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
Survivors include his wife of 38 years, Karen Hamilton, a daughter, Becky (Preston) Jones, 2 grandsons, Moses & Micah Jones, mother, Nita Hamilton and a sister, Barbara Halvorson, all of Yakima. He was preceded in death by his father.
Memorial services will be held Thursday, July 2, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. at the First Presbyterian Church, 9 S. 8th Avenue, Yakima.
Memorials may be made to a trust fund set up for the grandsons, Moses & Micah Jones at Yakima Federal Savings or to DeVita Dialysis Center, c/o Langevin-Mussetter Funeral Home.
