SPEARFISH, SD - Agnes Mary (Beauchene) Gorham passed away June 25, 2009 in Spearfish, SD. She was born July 10, 1911 in Red Lake Falls County, MN to Napoleon and Athalie (Lizotte) Beauchene. Agnes grew up in a French farming family, the middle of 10 children. Her four older siblings, Florida, Maurice, Doria, and Lucille were also born in Red Lake Falls. The family soon moved to Ferland/Kincaid, Saskatchewan, Canada where brothers Albert and Harvey and sister Clara were born. About 8 years later the family moved to Moxee to be near the Lizotte family. Two more brothers Rosaire and Paul were born in Moxee. Paul of Spokane is now the only living sibling. Agnes attended the Holy Rosary High School and was a graduate of a business college in Yakima. She worked in Newberry's and was an elevator operator in the Miller Building. She married Jay Gorham in Yakima in 1940. When Jay went into the Navy, Agnes worked in the Bremerton shipyards. Jay and Agnes moved to Spearfish, SD in 1946. Jay passed away in February 2009.
Agnes is survived by their children Terry Gorham and Jeanie Salazar and four grandchildren. Agnes also had many nieces and nephews, Dorothy Beauchene (deceased), Dolores Beauchene of Bellingham, Lucille Brett of Spokane, Paul Beauchene of Kent, Pauline Jensen of Rathdrum, Idaho, Kathy Hall of Poulsbo, Albert Beauchene of the Tri-Cities, Myron Beauchene of Yakima, Sheila Peck of Spokane, John and Tim Peck, Pat Skinner of Santa Clara California, Joyce Beckner of Boise, Arlene Reilly (deceased), Ken Beauchene (deceased), and Warren Beauchene of Poulsbo. Agnes' funeral will be at the Aldinger Funeral Home in Spearfish.
