YAKIMA -- Yakima police and the Better Business Bureau are warning people and businesses about fake AAA traveler’s checks that have been circulated in town this year. According to the Better Business Bureau of Eastern Washington, North Idaho & Montana, the checks use a variation of the names Larry Anderson or Larry Andrews. Yakima police said today that business owners spotted the checks in January and there were reports that they were being passed this month.
A news release by the Lake Chelan Chamber of Commerce states the checks were also passed in that area at two businesses March 27, and the person who identified himself as Larry Andrews provided a matching ID and signature when he used the fake checks. The Better Business Bureau is urging anyone who comes across the phony checks to call police and alert their bank. |
