Dana and Tom and their two children get $300 a month in food stamps which lasts 2-3 weeks. When the food stamps are exhausted they use local food banks to get by for the rest of the month. Though the food stamps don't go as far as they used to because of rising food prices, Tom counts himself lucky because he and his family can fall back on the generosity of his church and the food banks. " A lot of people don't have that" support, he said.
