YAKIMA, Wash. -- The word on the street is that that Subway will be opening a new location at the the Hawkes & Sons building on the corner of Second Street and Yakma Avenue, which is being remodeled by its new owner.

That is just a few spots down from the Sub Shop, the local sandwich shop chain co-owned by former Yakima City Council member Ron Bonlender.

If the chatter is true, that will probably be a disappointment for Shop Talk readers who were hoping for something new to come to downtown Yakima.

I’ve been trying to reach some folks to confirm this, but haven’t gotten much word. I will give an update.
