New Mexican restaurant comes to Selah

Looks like Nubia Delgado had a busy Fourth of July weekend.

The Selah resident opened Taqueria La Plazita at the shopping center at the corner of Fremont Avenue and North First Street on Friday.

Delgado has lived in Selah for about 11 years. She and her husband decided to open the Mexican restaurant after her husband dealt with a slowdown in his construction work.

“He’s good in the kitchen,” he said.

It’s only been a few days, but the restaurant is getting a good response so far. It was so crowded when I went there this afternoon that I had to wait a good 20 minutes to talk to Delgado.

“It’s been a very awesome response,” she said.

The restaurant is open from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Saturday and 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Sunday.
